Student testimonials for Going Above and Beyond Golden Apple award.
The Golden Apple Awards is a scheme run by the Students’ Union, to enable students to reward academic and support staff who exhibit exceptional teaching/support standards or are particularly inspiring within their field. I am honoured to have been nominated for and win this award, and the following student testimonials truly resonated with me.
Will works tirelessly to make sure all students on our course are achieving what they should be, not only through his personal guidance and vast knowledge of the topic but by helping find the tools and resources to solve things ourselves. On top of this he shows a vested interest in us as human beings as well as students, often making sure to check in and provide support both academically and emotionally. He has a patient and pragmatic attitude that really does go above and beyond. Truly a credit to our course and to the university.
Will taught and supported us through our largest and most stressful module. His care and support as a person, not just an academic means I was able to achieve my best work. Will went above his duty to support us all outside of work hours including coming to the Insomnia gaming festival to help us all showcase our games. I couldn’t of asked for anyone else to teach me this last semester.
Will has done so much for every single student on the games design course – he is always a positive person and I don’t think I’ve ever seen him without a smile on his face. He supports everyone in whatever it is they’re doing – whether it’s support with programming, help with personal issues, or just making us all feel better about our work. I genuinely think without Will my first year on this course would have been very different and a lot harder, and I truly think he is so deserving of this award and more.
